Romanian Moot FormatThis is more similar to a typical MUN (Model United Nations) committee. You are assigned a role way before the conference, in this format you can be the advocate for the petitioner, advocate for the defendant, or one of the judges.PRE-TRAIL:As the advocates, you must prepare 3 main documents before the conference:
  1. The brief - a document establishing the jurisdiction of the court, what you want the court's verdict to be, arguments for your desired outcome.
  2. Evidence appendix - in your brief you will reference past cases, precedents, material evidence, and other sources; the evidence appendix is a place to put the full version of the quoted documents. It is important to include EVERYTHING you plan to bring up at trial as omitted evidence is inadmissible in court.
  3. List of witnesses and a line of questioning with answers for your witnesses.
TRIAL:The course the trial will take will be different from conference to conference, thus you should consult the rules of procedure of your Court, but in general, it includes:
  1. Opening speech
  2. Presentation of evidence
  3. Oral arguments
  4. Witness testimonies
  5. Rebuttal
  6. Closing speeches
